So far my junior year has been the hardest year of high school just like everyone said it would be. There is a lot more work, teachers have higher expectations, and I’ve actually had homework for once. My freshman and sophomore year were a lot less stressful and I had more time to focus on other things other than school. Although junior year is more difficult I feel that it’s helping me become more organized and a lot more responsible because I’m learning how to do get things done on my own and I have to meet deadlines all the time so I must stay organized. Other than getting used to new school work I’m also getting used to being on a varsity basketball team for the first time. Just like school, my junior year of basketball has been the hardest year too because coaches also have higher expectations, expect more work from you physically, and expect you to work outside of practice as well. My freshman and sophomore year of basketball were a lot easier because there wasn’t a lot of better competition. We were all able to slack off but now that we’re on varsity it’s a lot more stressful. Now that I have a stressful year of school and basketball it’s really hard to make time for my family. I have homework and practice every day so once I get home I have to make sure I shower, eat, and do homework so it’s causing me to become distant from my family. When it comes to a family get together or a visit I just want to stay home and sleep because I’m extremely exhausted from my long week of school. In other words, my junior year has been very stressful but also very memorable. We’re already almost done with the first semester of junior year and it has gone by extremely fast. It feels like it was just yesterday I was walking into the gates of Lindsay High School as a freshman. Sometimes I wish I can go back to freshman year because the classes were so much easier than they are now. My hardest class this year is Algebra 2, every progress report I find myself behind pace and it is very stressful. All of my other classes have been pretty easy but a lot of work comes with them and I think that’s why I stress out. Like most kids, I tend to procrastinate a lot. I always find myself waiting until the day before something is due to get started and I think that’s something that’ll never change about me. I think if I keep moving at the pace I am right now I’ll complete my junior year and move on to senior year with no problems. Everything is happening so fast and all at once it’s kind of hard to handle at times but I just can’t wait to get out of high school and start a new chapter in my life
The Beginning Of My Last Year
So far my senior year has been very good. This year is my favorite schedule i’ve had in all my high school years because I have good classes with some of my friends and i'm also caught up in my credits so I have two teacher aid periods. Having two teacher aid periods is nice because I get to do homework in there and I can also get ahead as well. So far there has been little work assigned by all of my teachers so I am currently on pace in all of my classes. Last year I finished my two journals required for junior year so I am currently working on this journal which is journal one. What’s interesting about senior project is that I still have to do my job shadow which i’m very excited about. I plan on job shadowing a cop because that’s what I want to be when I get older but maybe things will change.
Junior year helped me a lot and prepared me for senior year because there was a lot of work that had to be done and I got through it so i’m confident that I will finish this year very easily. My junior year not only helped me be able to get my work done but it also helped me stay organized. This year is my senior year and i’ve started off being extremely organized and it has helped so much. My freshmen and sophomore year I was really unorganized and it threw me off pace a lot because I was always having to dig through my backpack to try and find assignments and I even lost many assignments and had to redo. This year I plan to stay organized throughout the whole year so I can always be on pace and won’t have to worry about losing work and having to redo it.
Its finally senior year and what i’m looking forward to the most is graduation day when I no longer have to come back to high school. I’m excited to start a new chapter in my life and either decide to go to college or start working. Another thing i’m really looking forward to is grad night. I’m very excited to have a good night with people that have been in my life for a long time so it should be a night to remember for the rest of my life.
One big goal i have this year is to finish senior year early so I won’t be stressing at the end of the year wondering if i’ll be walking or not. As for the future I plan on either going to a junior college or start working more. Another option I have is to go into a police academy so I can get into law enforcement. It has always been a dream of mine to become a cop because I feel like I can give back to my community by protecting it as much as I can.

Reflecting
Since my last journal there has been some changes in my senior year. In the beginning I thought all my classes were gonna be really easy but I was wrong. Economics has been a real struggle for me because it’s a lot of work to keep up with. Earlier in the year economics wasn’t a problem for me because it all was easy but then all of the work kept adding up and I fell behind which was the main thing I didn’t want to do this year. The good thing about this year is the that most of my classes are electives but I didn’t realize that I was still going to have a lot of work but I do. I began to fall behind but once basketball season got closer I knew I had to get back on pace. After realizing this I began to catch up on everything and now I’m on pace on all seven of my classes. To meet my semester goal I still have a lot of work to do for my senior project and one thing I need to get done very soon is my job shadow. I’m still trying to figure out who I want to job shadow because i’m unsure of what I want to become when I graduate High school. I also have a couple more journals and I also need to get everything I have for my senior project on my website. As the end of the semester is finishing up I’m going to need to finish up economics real soon because if not then I will need to make it up next semester but by that time I will be in government and have other work to get done as well. Other than those two classes i’m confident that I will get everything I need to get done by the end of the semester. One main thing i’m enjoying about my senior project is the journals. I feel like it’s good for me to write about all my goals and struggles i’ve been going through in my last year of High School. One big thing i’m enjoying about my last year in school is being able to say that this is my last year and just enjoying everything while it lasts. I’m taking all of my senior year very seriously and taking everything step by step but as for my post graduation plans I haven’t figured it out yet. For post graduation plans I think i’m leaning on just letting everything fall into place as it goes because I believe everything will happen the way its supposed to so I will let it take care of itself first and then that’ll make my decisions easier. As for my support in graduation I think sometimes I might have too much. My family keeps pushing me to go to at least a community college but I know that isn’t something I really would like to do. I believe that college doesn’t determine on how successful you’ll be in your future.
The End Of First Semester
Coming back from winter break was very hard. Knowing it was my last winter break of high school made it very memorable and fun. The first couple of weeks started off slow because all I was doing was working and spending time with my family when I got out. When Christmas started coming around I was getting very anxious because I only asked for one thing and I didn’t know if I was going to get it or not. During the time we were opening presents I was getting kind of upset because I had only gotten handed two presents and neither of them were shaped like what I wanted. When I opened the small present it was a soda can with the lid cut off and there was a note in there saying “look under your bed” when I went to go check there was a big present under there and I knew it was exactly what I wanted so I was very happy with what I got. Two days after Christmas we had a basketball tournament in santa maria so we rode in two suburbans with all of the teammates and made our way there later that night. We finally arrived to the beach and were so excited to be there all together as one big family. Staying together for three nights was a great way to get closer and build chemistry with each other even though sometimes we got on each others nerves. The team ended up going 2-2 in the tournament but we were proud of that because the schools we played were much bigger than us. The experience was great and we were all glad that we got to spend our senior year together like that.
I feel like my first semester in senior year has been good. I’ve finished all my classes a week early and accomplished my goal of not getting behind this semester. Finishing my classes a week early is one thing I really love because it gives me a lot more time to work on my senior project and focus on more stuff at home. It has also relieved a lot of stress because now I don’t have to worry about having to catch up or worry if i’m going to be able to pass all of my classes this semester. There isn’t really anything I hate about this first semester because everything is going like I planned. Now I am just looking forward to doing the same thing I did this semester and that is continue to work hard and complete my classes.
So far the reality of my first semester hasn’t hit me yet. I feel like when it’s time to do my exit interview then that’s when it will finally hit me that it’s time to graduate. Also when i’m finishing all my classes it was be a relief to finally be done with school work. The only thing I need to accomplish before the last semester ends is do my job shadow. I plan on job shadowing a cop but I am also considering working at Pepsi Bottling Company with my step dad so then I can save a lot of money and just start making good money right away. Right now though I am currently working at Sno-White Drive In in tulare. This has been teaching me to have a better work ethic and to learn how to make my own money. I enjoy working because I don’t have to rely on my parents for much anymore because i’ve been making good enough money to buy a lot of my own stuff so this is just getting a head start on the real world and it has been helping me a lot.
The End Is Near
The end to my senior year is almost over and I’m very excited about it. When I was a freshman everyone older than me said my four years of high school would fly by and I just thought they wanted to be know it alls because they are older but now I’m the one telling people it really does go by so fast and it’s crazy. I’m not really nervous about graduating but I do want it to happen already. I don’t think I’m nervous about graduating because in all honesty I’ve never been a kid who likes coming to school at all.
Some preparations I’ve been taking for post-graduation is keeping my job and saving a lot of money up for whatever bills I will have to pay when I’m out of school. I currently work at Sno-White Drive Thru in Tulare and I plan to keep this job for a while after high school until I save up a good amount of money. In my last couple of journals I talked about maybe becoming a cop and going to COS. My plans have changed since then because I don’t want to worry about school anymore and I just want to make money. I don’t know exactly what I want to do as a career but I’m confident that I will figure something out real soon.
One thing I still need to do before I graduate is get my senior exit interview done. This is one big thing I need to get out of the way already so I can focus on just getting my school work done for the rest of the year. One thing I’m looking forward to is graduation week because there is going to be a lot of fun things happening such as grad night, and practicing for the graduation ceremony. I just can’t wait until that week because I can finally say that I’m done with high school. There is a lot of things I am grateful for such as having a great and supportive family and also having teachers that care about me and just want me to do good in whatever I choose to do after high school. Looking back to my senior year I’m most happy about having great friends that I could always talk to. I feel that even after high school I will always have a great bond with these people even if we all separate. When I’m older and look back at my senior year there’s going to be so many memories I can remember and that’s something nobody can take away from me even if people point out all of the mistakes I made throughout my four years at Lindsay High School. All of the teachers here also made my senior year great too because this year they really pushed me and helped me understand not only all of the school work but they made it clear to me that I can do anything I choose to do later on in life and for that I’m extremely grateful.
